The June vacation had finally come to an end and for the first time Keline actually wished that the holiday had lasted much longer. With school in, she would be too busy to maple during the day and her mum would never allow her to touch the computer at night as she would have to be in bed early. Though she could still go online on weekends, it would only be for a couple of hours. The arrangement had been fine with her before but now she just hoped to be able to spend more time with BK in their virtual world.

It was the eve of the new school term, Keline went online at the usual time and met up with BK. He seemed excited about going back to school to be with his friends again. Though Keline also couldn’t wait to see her friends again, the feeling was different. Trying hard not to dampen his spirits, Keline played along and sounded just as excited. He went on to share with her his plans for the new semester and how he was going to enjoy his final year in the school. Then BK hit the jackpot when he said that he would be busy preparing for his ‘O’ level and would be spending less time mapling. Keline paused for a moment. She was waiting to see what BK would suggest they do to keep in touch to maintain the relationship. Alas, she was disappointed when BK didn't mention anything about it. It seemed that he was just too preoccupied with his excitement.

Just then, Keline’s mum called out to her in the background to shutdown the computer to get ready for dinner. Knowing well that she wouldn’t get the chance to be online after dinner, Keline became desperate. She told him that it was time for her to go off and just before she signed off she typed her mobile number into her textbox. Keline wasn’t sure if BK got her number or he knew what she wanted him to do. She could only cross her fingers and wait. Soon it was time for her to turn in and she still didn’t receive anything. Just as she got ready to lie down, an sms arrived. Keline leapt out of bed to retrieve it. It was from her friend who was making arrangement to meet her at the bus stop in the morning. Gradually losing hope of ever hearing from BK, Keline dozed off into dreamland.

It was 6 a.m. and Keline was just getting out of bed when she thought she heard a message tone coming from her handphone. Must be her friend again, she thought. She checked her inbox and was surprised to see an unfamiliar number. Somehow she felt her heart thumping. She opened the message with her shaky fingers. It was a 'good morning' message from BK. Keline was so thrilled that she almost forgot to give him a reply. Since then, they would sms each other every night and chat till they entered Never-never land together.
